Headquarters Interior Design | The Slack Headquarters | Vancouver | Canada | Leckie Studio Architecture + Design

Award-winning communications-based software company Slack located its multi-level headquarters in Yaletown, at 1028 Hamilton Street. The Slack Headquarters re-imagines the industrial space into a 3-level interconnected floor space with modern detail and everyday, utilitarian materials. The new offices retain the heritage character of the building by integrating the exposed brick, original wooden beams, and exposed mechanical infrastructure into the design. The custom steel demising walls are coated with a matte gunmetal lacquer. The industrial character of the office was designed as a strategic and contextual response to both the heritage of the Yaletown warehouse building, and the social nature of the communications and projects of Slack.........more

Restaurant Interior Design | Pizza Buzz | Shoreditch | London | Emergent Design Studios

Our proposals for Pizza Buzz introduces a new restaurant typology to London, through which customers create their own ‘bespoke’ pizza with high quality local products, ready to eat in only 120 seconds.

This single aspect unit is located between Shoreditch and the City, at the ground floor of the exciting new Alphabeta development. The facade towards the street includes colourful signage across the three window bays, interacting with Worship Street's unique character.

Our design intent lies in converting the unit into an extension of the urban environment surrounding it, by echoing cultural references ubiquitous to the immediate context such as street art & materials like concrete, exposed steel and industrial lights. We aim to develop a ‘transient’ environment where customers can choose to stay in a comfortable collection of seating areas or simply use the take-away. Circulation is efficiently planned along the main pizza bar, adapting customer flow to Pizza Buzz's unique service experience. All furniture and lighting was designed and sourced to express the raw qualities of fine materials, delicately assembled........more

Restaurant Interior Design | Lupulo | manhattan | New York City | Creme

Lupulo is a spacious dining spot in the NoMad area of Manhattan, New York. A traditional Portuguese theme resonates throughout the interior and extends to the entrance and façade. Hand-crafted Portuguese ceramic tiles line both interior and exterior walls, creating a harmony of color and pattern. Industrial and rustic maritime details such as knotted screens and blackened metal fittings pepper the wood-floored space. Centered in the restaurant is an oval shaped raw bar where guests can be served fresh fish in an open, airy, semi-casual environment. The blackened steel counter top with reclaimed bar die brings in a rustic yet warm feeling, while the surrounding tiled dining tables and low-seating remind one of the openness and freshness of the coastal environments that flourish in Portugal. A coffee bar with a street side “To-Go” window, located at the corner of 6th Avenue and 29th Street, allows patrons to grab a quick bite while on the go. Lupulo offers small plates of oceanic delicacies in a Portuguese setting that preserves the elegant simplicity of contemporary design......more

Restaurant Interior Design | L’Amico | Chelsea | New York City | Creme

The award-winning L’Amico restaurant at Eventi is inspired by a wood-fired meal and the simplicity of a stroll through the country side. Influenced by industrial details, Crème has created an escape from the bustle of cosmopolitan New York City. The 1,700 square feet space uses the warmth of reclaimed wood and copper cladding to give a sense of material tranquility. A 10 person bar allows single diners to enjoy a pleasant meal, while the 80+ seat dining room accommodates parties of all sizes. The wall pattern, derived from barn door geometry, is echoed in the graphic concrete flooring. Crème has developed a contemporary walnut and blackened steel chair inspired by the traditional Windsor form. Boasting two large copper clad wood-fire ovens, the first floor restaurant fuses New York City’s historic Italian culture with the contemporary; emphasizing freshness and simplicity that go hand-in-hand at this sophisticated dining experience. Crème received the 2016 Prix Versailles Special Prize for L’Amico’s restaurant interior.......more

Retail Interior Design | INTO | Singapore | 212 Box

INTO is boutique retail architecture’s response to global fashion, ubiquitous branding, and the placelessness of modern metropolitan shopping malls. The 700-square-foot space is situated within the exclusive Palais Renaissance along Orchard Road in Singapore. INTO’s internally-activated, box-like form analogues the mall’s own isolation from its broader local context. Discrete outlines of peculiar objects and perverse scenes—which comment on politics, war, labor, sex roles, violence, and lust—are embedded into the sandblasted camouflage pattern adorning INTO’s aluminum skin, which wraps the entire store. These allusions convey a subtle opposition to the typical decontextualized, apolitical milieu of high-end shopping.....more

Ophthalmologist Clinic Interior Design | Japan | KTX

Floor Layout Plan

This is an ophthalmologist clinic located within commercial facilities adjacent to a station. Doctor Sekimukai who opened this private practice was skilled at ophthalmic surgery. With the goal of putting these skills on display in a way that was easy to understand for both existing patients and potential clients, he positioned the glass-walled operating theater facing a shared passageway of the commercial facilities in question. This left a strong impression on both patients visiting the clinic as well as customers walking along the corridor that “Here was an eye doctor who was accomplished at surgery,” thereby reinforcing people’s expectations of his high medical skills. Moreover, by making the operating theater visible, which was both bright and hygienic, this served to dispel people’s anxiety regarding surgery and instill in them a sense of comfort. Within just five months of going into private practice, the clinic was inundated with bookings for surgery and the ophthalmologist clinic has developed such an excellent reputation that they have had to adjust clinic hours in order to increase the number of surgery days.....more

Cafe Interior Design | Eltana Bagel Cafe | Seattle | Washington | Graham Baba Architects

Eltana Bagel Cafe is an entirely vegetarian menu with entirely different bagels, all within a relaxed local atmosphere. Given an envelope on the ground floor of the existing Packard Building, Graham Baba's task was to space plan the flow of customers while showcasing the unique preparation of Eltana's specialty wood-fired bagels. The use of warming elements like reclaimed wood and steel in the design of the service counter contrasts with the cooler, brighter elements of the existing building shell. A community table gathers customers together to enjoy a healthy meal and observe the Capitol Hill goings on through the large operable garage door storefront......more
